Welcome to HermitX (the "App"). By using this App, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Description of Service​

HermitX is a free and open-source mobile client for Spacebar. It provides a user interface to interact with independent, third-party Spacebar instances.

HermitX is not a service provider. It is a tool used to access services provided by others. The developers of HermitX do not control or monitor the servers you connect to.

2. User Responsibility​

By using HermitX, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Instance Rules: You must comply with the Terms of Service and community guidelines of the specific Spacebar instance(s) you join.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication tokens and credentials.
  • Lawful Use: You will not use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.

3. No Warranty​

The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

As an open-source project licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0, the developers of HermitX:

  • Do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
  • Are not liable for any damages resulting from the use or inability to use the App.
  • Expressly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

4. Limitation of Liability​

In no event shall the developers or contributors of HermitX be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the App, including but not limited to:

  • Content posted by other users on any Spacebar instance.
  • Data breaches or service interruptions occurring on a third-party instance.
  • Loss of data or unauthorized access to your account.

5. Third-Party Content​

HermitX allows you to view and interact with content (messages, images, links) provided by third parties. We do not endorse, support, or guarantee the accuracy or appropriateness of any third-party content. Use caution when clicking external links.

6. Intellectual Property​

  • Source Code: The code for HermitX is open-source and available under the GPL-3.0 license.
  • User Content: You remain the owner of the content you post, subject to the terms of the instance where the content is hosted.

7. Changes to Terms​

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
